Oh NyQuil Where Art Thou

I no longer feel like an empress or the bell of the ball (although 33 comments yesterday weeeeeeee I do feel a little royal). But I also feel sick. I feel like a big ball of sick. I want some soup, some hot tea and my mommy. My ears hurt so does my throat and I'm so achy. I just wanna put my head down and whine and whine.

I know I've already mentioned this in my WW but I would love love some NyQuil. I remember being sick and taking that little cup of green nasty liquid and immediately falling on my face in a full out NyQuil stupor and waking up oddly refreshed and nowhere near as achy. But alas nursing and NyQuil do not mix. I imagine if I did take it my milk would immediately become green and minty my Little S would fall into a stupor of her own and while tempting (I bet I would get a full night sleep) it's a no go.

I told Little B I was not feeling well and that my throat hurt so I would not be doing much talking he responded with, "Why does your throat hurt mommy? Huh? Why? Why does it hurt? How did you hurt it? You can't talk? Why can't you talk? Huh? Why? Why cant you? Huh? Mommy? Huh?" Until I shrieked in my very patient and caring motherly way. "CAUSE I"M SICK!!!..umm..honey." Thus causing my throat to spontaneously bleed and sending me into spasms of pain.

So I guess I'm stuck parenting and working today with what seems like the flu. If you get a moment could you please get me a cup of tea with honey or a hot toddy would be great. I would get it myself but I don't know if I've mentioned this but I just don't feel good.

When i was pregnant and was sick with a bad throat the dr. told me to suck on cinnamon. he suggested fireballs and it would neutralize the hurt. I'm not sure with the nursing thing though. feel better.

I hope you get to feeling better soon! And congrats on the 33 comments yesterday.

Thanks for stopping by my WW yesterday! Just to clarify the little squirrel was not a zoo exhibit, but just a little guy who ran around the pathways of the zoo. And yes, our local zoo is pretty "exotic" actually... one of the top in the U.S.

I like queen-size funny bone's suggestion. Nyquil is yucky - fireballs are yummy (anyone else out there reading the yucky/yummy book to their kids? I think I have it memorized...)

You better get thee to the doctor. Strep throat is going around!

Oh Suzie, I'm so sorry you're sick! I know there's no substitute for NyQuil, but I find that zinc lozenges make me feel better. They taste pretty nasty though...but no worse than NyQuil!

Bleh. I have not experienced being sick as a mama yet, but I am not looking forward to it.
Hope you feel better soon.

No fun!
I'm so sorry you're feeling so bad. Do get a strep test, and then call in help--somebody needs to be mothering you! Alas, the mommy never gets to really be sick.
No fair.
You know, that really is a whole new job field some enterprising person with a great immune system should jump on. Mothering sick mommies!

That's the worst thing about being a grownup, isn't it? We never get to take the day off when we're sick.

Hope you feel better soon!

A spontaneously bleeding throat? Dang sista, that sounds serious! Get better soon, okay?

Oh! And congrats on the comment record. I set a personal high yesterday too. When you're better we'll party.

Sucks being mommy when you're sick. Why, because there is no mommy to mommy you when your sick.

Then you have to work on top of it, let's be honest it sucks even more. Hope you feel better soon!

These are the days when I would give anything to crawl into bed and not get out for two or three days. Those days went bye bye with babies. As you well know. I'm praying for you.

Oh honey! I hear ya! But you don't want NyQuil anyway...didn't you hear? They took the good sh*t out of NyQuil...apparently kids have figured out how to make methamphetamines from the decongestant.

*sigh*

The good old fashioned ever reliable "so you can sleep medicine" has been altered.

Nice to meet you. My wife and I run a school as well. Your about blurb fits us perfectly. It made me laugh out loud. Thanks.

I don't know if this would help at all, but my SIL drinks this when her throat feels bad and when she needs to sing. She takes Dr Pepper and Lemon juice and then warms it up in the microwave. If it doesn't help your throat the taste might take your mind off the pain.

I came down with colds and sore throat a few days after my S was born. I didn't take any meds, just drank lots and lots of water and warm lemonade.

Hope you feel better soon!

You need a hot bath, a back and foot rub, some advil, some honey with lemon, and a nice warm bed to doze off into. If I could, I would send that your way. Feel better soon.

Ugh. My friend seems to have this same summer illness - what a load of crap. No one should get sick in the summer.

I hope you can get some rest and start feeling better soon!!

I found you through Meg at Prefers Her Fantasy Life - glad I did!

It's sad that, in the 21st century, we still don't have better options for pregnant/nursing women!

BTW, I have an award for you at my place. Stop by when you're better.
