My Pod Kids

I don't know how or why it happened but both children were good last night. Really good. It was wonderful but strange and creepy at the same time. As they gathered around my lap listening to stories and holding each others hands I felt a chill. Were they waiting until I was lulled into a false sense of security before they attacked one another with sippy cups and tried to stick things in the dogs ears? Who had replaced my children with these sweet pod children? Maybe it was aliens. It had to be aliens. But Little B put socks on his sisters feet to keep the chill off before bed and Little S kissed her brother as they were tucked into bed. I kept waiting for the other foot to drop. I kept waiting for the blue ice to fall out of a passing airplane but it was a very nice evening.

Until....

2am

Why is 2am the hour when all children throw up, develop horrible rashes, or freak out? I have not been granted the answer to this question but my children certainly signed on for the 2am slot. At 2am Little B started to wail. This woke up Little S who also started to wail. I began to yell for Hubby as it was technically his shift. Hubby did not wake up he gave me a sleep induced thumbs up rolled over and began to snore. I was on my own and my yelling caused the dog to freak out and bark. It was fun, fun, fun! When I could finally make out what was wrong over all the noise it turned out B's mouth hurt. I don't know what all that was about but apparently 10 min of the Superfriends and an ice pop seemed to do the trick.

I went back to bed assured in the knowledge these were indeed my children and they had not been replaced by any pod kids.

Phew..I'm relieved

Or am I?

They are messing with your mind.

LOL!! It's about 3am here when all hell breaks loose.
And of course your dog had to get in on it too! :)

We always use to be up with ear aches as kids. When my kids were little I always said not to get use to anything because it soon changes. and it always did.

Cartoons and popsicles.
The all American cure all!!

If I had any sense at all this morning at 4:45 when our screamfest started, I would have gone for the popsicle as well. Note to self!

I hate it when they team up... I've had both twins wanting middle of the night attention when Chris is away. Also - I find that TV and ice cream is my own cure all for middle of the night mouth pain (or insomnia, or desire to get away from my husband's snoring...)

Isn't it interesting how husbands have this uncanny ability to just tune out wailing, shrieking children and go back to sleep?

How nice for them. Huh.

Hmmm...I'd wake up at 2 am for Superfriends and ice pops!

What a laugh. Isn't is a hoot that good behaviour is alarming!

If you were up in canada we'd definitely have to have a drink or two together at our Mom's Nite Out!

I feel ya, and they usually just ate something containing FOOD COLORING as well!

don't be alarmed, but the being "good" will happen more and more and someday the 2 a.m. thing will happen less and less and less.

I wouldn't mind some Superfriends and an ice pop, myself! Can you come over at 2am?

Yes, what is it about 2 am? Seriously! And how is it that the daddies can sleep through all of it? J can wake up when the dog is about to pee or puke in the middle of the night, but when it comes to his actual children I am alone. Maybe I need a popsicle and Superfriends.

That middle of the night wake up stuff is so cruel...it's just not fair! Thankfully he didn't feel the need to stay up for three hours causing you to stay up for three hours! I'm learning to take advantage of any calm moments between my kids...they may be few and far between!

Take care,
Julie

LOL! Glad to hear that all little B needed was an ice pop and superfriends...that beats a whirlwind trip to the ER any day (or night)!

My little man went through a phase where every night at 1:40 like clockwork he would wake up and either cry or want to play...It finally stopped after a couple of months.

Yep, we are definitely part of the 2am squad here. Actually, one is an 11pm kid AND a 2am kid. Gotta love that!

Ice Pops are a big hit here. My kids would live off of those things if I let them.

I had the 4am shift covered last night.

I'm always a little suspicious too when they're being angels. Like, what's gonna happen next?

The Mrs. said...

yes, why is 2am sick call for kids? And then you think ha ha they'll sleep late at least since they were up all night but NO. They dont. They are up even earlier.

And yet when my husband is home they are fine. He thinks its all in my head.

With us, it was exactly 5 minutes after whenever I was finally in deep REM sleep. Never to be found again...yeah, I guess they're worth it!
