The Monster Strikes Agian

I remember my son as a sweet little boy. Lately the monster, the one who is responsible for the crayon marks on the wall, toys flushed in the toilet and global warming has taken resident in my sons body. I keep hoping every day my sweet little boy will return but the monster seems to be getting stronger by the hour.

Yesterday the monster spit all over the bathroom mirror rolled the baby over and over again all over the carpet like a log ( I only discovered this when it got a little too quiet in the living room as I was making super). Put the TV remote in the bath. And screamed until I thought my ears would bleed.

So in response to the presence of the monster I have taken to yelling...a lot. I try not to. I start out talking very rationally

Honey please don't stick crayons in the dogs ears. He really doesn't like it.

But as the day goes on I tend to get more worked up,

Sweetie DO NOT PUT THE BABY IN THE DIAPER BIN! I MEAN IT!

Until I am just yelling like a crazy person,

STOP IT! DON'T LICK THAT! DON'T FLUSH THAT...STOP THE... THE OH MY GOODNESS WHATS WRONG WITH YOU?

I think I've discovered there is no way to win with The Monster I just hope I can hang in there until my beautiful boy comes back...he will come back..right?

Hahahaha! Speaking as the oldest of eight children... ummm, no. Think Evolve. Think Morph. Think acts in a play. They never re-do the first act. Sorry. MotherDear says she had to learn to love each stage of each child's life, whether or not she wanted to! One of my sister's 8 year old twins just painted the other twins face not long ago. It was very artistic. It was very cute! It was permanent markers. hahahaha.

p.s. She sounded just like that!! Only shrillier.

he's coming back. i promise!!! and it will be all the sweeter because of what you are going through now. my youngest is six. six is wonderful. six is full of hugs and kisses and learning to read and loving the wonder of simple things like how caterpillars become butterflies and how to count to fifty in tens -- and the idea of not putting every last thing in the toilet actually makes sense to them. coming from me that means something -- when he was two he put a baby bottle pop down the toilet and it resulted in us having to put in a new toilet. that was a fun day at our house.

If you find a way to bring him back, let me know. I'll pay you dearly for the solution!

It's common to hear the following in my house:
"Honey, we don't smother/pile drive/kick the baby in the face. He doesn't like that."

Followed by a:
"Oh. OK."

Ten seconds later - he's back to being the monster. But true to his word (as willthink4wine says) he never does that first thing again. No...something new...

LOL, sounds like your feeling better>>>(grin) My oldest monster is almost 16, gave up waiting on my sweet little boy years ago.(wink) they are BOYS what more can I say.. I say this as I sit here with green all over my socks cuz my youngest monster left a green crayon in his coat pocket, that I washed, and dried.. I found half of it before they made it to the dryer. I have two,, be glad you have a beautiful little girl. (bigger grin) (evil chuckle)
Thanks for sharing your wonderful life..

I swear, this was my week last week.

OMIGOD AMY, JUST GET OUT OF THE BIN/CUPBOARD/CLEAN WASHING/COCOA POWDER ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHH.

And then my head exploded.

Luckily, just as I was about to start sitting in the corner, rocking and crying, she was suddenly NORMAL again.

My nerves however? Never be the same.

He's three right? Well, I don't know when it ends, but I do know it eventually gets slightly better. VERY slowly. Our son was a sweet loving little boy until something burst in his brain right before he turned 3. He turned 4 in March and he's not over it. He's better than he was, but he still has his "moments".

I hope they get over it, or it's going to be a looooooong couple of decades.

I love when we try to reason with the monsters, "what were you thinking" and "why would you do that" are answered with blank stares and facial expressions that imply, "why not?"

Good luck. I have no hope for you, but can certainly identify!

I know I have not been by that much and I am sorry. You have been such a great new friend because you keep coming by my blog. I am going to try and read as much as I can while I am visiting your blog so you may get a few comments.

Ok, the only advice I can give you about your monster troubles is this. Boys are a lot harder to raise then girls. Your wonderful little boy will return but the monster will show himself from time to time. Just stay firm and remember to yell with your inside voice. LOL
