S has learned how to clap and she loves it. It is sweet and cute but it also gives one a false sense of importance. When I enter a room I do so to a round of applause. When I sing a song more applause whatever I say is followed by clapping. When I whipped up some stained carrots and rice cereal I know I deserve it. I feel like whatever I say or do is of profound importance worthy of the applause I receive. Its been so long since Ive had a standing ovation for my rendition of Itsy Bitsy it just feels right.
After S went to bed last night I made my famous black bean burritos for my Hubby I put it down on the table and nothing.... I waited for my applause. I looked at my Hubby he looked at me. He smiled I waited he smiled again. Thanks he said as he started eating. I almost woke S up to get my well deserved whoop whoop.
Now if I can just get her to raise the roof I'll be all set.

Suzie, funny story! But hubby's forget to clap, babies don't! Now I'm sure there is something red out there for you to photo...and post today or tomorrow for Ruby Tuesday. Give it a try! :D
hilarious! When Dash-1 went thru the clap stage I will never forget one time, at church during the processional as everyone went to sit he stood up, on the pew and clapped. Thank goodness the priest had a sense of humor!
I remember that when Bee was two, and learning to use the potty, we were in a public bathroom stall, and she started clapping and saying very loudly, "Are you doing pee pee? Good job Mommy!" Very embarrassing.
BTW, I edited my most recent blog post, so that no one will feel excluded or unwelcome. That certainly was not my intention--it seems that I made an ignorant assumption about my audience. You're ALWAYS welcome!
FUNNY. :)
I think our husbands SHOULD clap for us once in a while. We totally deserve it.
I realized what a curse learning to clap can be when my baby boy, nearly sleeping in my lap in the rocker, jolted awake to clap along with the game show I was watching. Let me know if you get the hubby to clap for you - interested to know what bribe worked!
ROFLMAO!
Woop, Woop! Actually, I would advise you savour the moment; it fades all too soon. My parents live with me now and I am ashamed to say that I seldom offer them a round of applause. I feel so guilty. Tomorrow I shall applaud them!
Awww...that's awesome! Well, not the hubby part...shame on him, he should know better!
